The MetroHealth System is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP)—including CNS or PA—to join our General Wound Surgery team. This role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive outpatient wound care while working alongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary team dedicated to exceptional patient outcomes.

This role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive outpatient wound care while working alongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary team dedicated to exceptional patient outcomes.
Position Overview
The APP will be responsible for evaluating and managing patients with complex wounds in the outpatient setting, providing both direct care and coordination across services to support optimal healing and patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat complex wounds in the outpatient environment
- Perform comprehensive wound assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams, including surgery, nursing, home care, and ancillary services
- Provide patient education on wound management, care expectations, and prevention
- Order appropriate wound care supplies, medical equipment, testing, and home care services
- Perform (or learn to perform) the following procedures:
- Wound debridement
- Abscess I&Ds
- Wound Vac implementation and removal
- Una boot application
- Licensed Certified Nurse Specialist or Physician Assistant
- Wound care experience preferred but not required
- Orientation and training are available
- Strong clinical assessment, procedural skills, and patient‑centered communication
- Physician Assistant
- Graduation from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current PA-C certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Eligibility for (or possession of) an Ohio PA license
- Completion of onboarding requirements for Ohio prescriptive authority (if applicable)
- BLS/ACLS as required by department
- Clinical experience preferred (new grads considered if appropriate)
- Clinical Nurse Specialist
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) certification
- Eligibility for (or possession of) an Ohio APRN‑CNS license
- National board certification (e.g., ANCC or AACN) in a relevant specialty
- Prescriptive authority or eligibility per Ohio Board of Nursing regulations (if required for the role)
- BLS/ACLS as required by department
