NP/PAs within the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine work within care teams comprised of both physicians and NP/PAs working collaboratively. In a care team model, NP/PAs are partnered with physician, nursing, and administrative colleagues to support patient care needs of the team. In addition to supporting team based care, the NP/PA also maintains their own clinic with individual patients. Together, the teams provide care for a wide range of cardiac patients across subspecialities including general cardiology, valve clinic, heart rhythm clinic, advanced heart failure/cardiac transplant clinic, adult congenital heart disease clinic, vascular clinic, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy clinic. Additionally, the APP will collaborate with other subspecialities and primary care both within and outside of Mayo Clinic. In this position, the NP/PA will manage a variety of cardiac diagnoses with an emphasis on structural and interventional cardiology. This includes, but is not limited to complex PCI, transcatheter valve interventions, left atrial appendage closure devices, and PFO closures. Responsibilities include post-hospital follow ups, symptom assessments, longitudinal management, diagnostic review, and development of individualized treatment plans. They will be expected to support the needs of clinic which also include PET stress supervision.
