Summary:
- The responsibilities of the Assistant Nurse Manager include but are not limited to coordination of all activities within the unit. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager establishes and updates processes and work practices for the unit/department, ensures appropriate staffing which promote safe, quality patient care and fiscal responsibility, monitors clinical competency of staff, effectively manages and efficiently uses all resources adhering to establishes policies and procedures and performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity mission and values.
Responsibilities:
· The Assistant Nurse Manager will share responsibility with staffing, timecards, scheduling, evaluation of staff performance, and ensure that staff meet necessary competencies and are in compliance with state regulations and hospital policies.
· Patient care: development of policies and procedures, assists with development of education, participates in clinical care, assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the delivery of patient care.
· Communication: positive and effective interpersonal relations with all members of the team, proactive in responses to all queries, in a timely manner, mentors’ new staff and exhibits leadership in problem solving, partners with Patient and Guest Relations to resolve patient concerns as needed.
· Credentialing: manages license and certification process for staff in conjunction with Nurse Manager and Clinical Practice lead.
· Fiscal management: aware of the financial needs of the department, design and implement actions to maintain fiscal responsibility of the unit, identifies scheduling conflicts and resolves proactively, manages payroll, scheduling and timekeeping process.
· Partners with Nurse Manager for administration of Employee Relations matters as needed.
· Other duties assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and organization
Credentials:
- Bachelor's Degree - Nursing (Required)
- Master's Degree - Nursing, Management or Related Field (Preferred)
- 3-5 years of progressive nursing experience and demonstrated leadership skills (Required)
· Registered Nurse - PA (Required)
· RN Certification in specialty (Preferred)
Expectations:
· Off shift hours (evenings and nights) with occasional day shift presence.
