Position Summary
Assists the Unit Director with the responsibility and accountability for the management of the unit. Emphasis on independent decision-making related to the nursing process. Demonstrates the ability to provide consistent direction for all nursing personnel in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating nursing activities.

- Education:
- Training and Experience:
- Current BLS Certification that follows the American Heart Association guidelines upon hire or transfer to a department.
- 18 months full-time experience as an RN preferred. If less than 18 months experience, administrative approval must be obtained.
- Neonate Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 6 months of hire or transfer to department.
- EKG within 6 months of hire.
- Hospital and Nursing orientation within 3 months of hire.
- NICU competencies within 3 months of hire:
- QS Computerized Charting
- Care of the neonate
- Care of the premature neonate
- Care of the ventilated neonate
- Ability to perform:
- Heavy lifting
- Sustained standing and walking
- Work under stress
- Varied work hours and shifts.
- Exposure to infectious diseases.
