MAIN FUNCTION:
The RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated timeframe and provides care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other health care team members. The RN is expected to perform their duties according to established standards of care and the core values established by the Division of Nursing. Reports to assigned Unit Manager.
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Department RN to join our fast paced ED team. The ED RN provides high quality, patient centered care to individuals experiencing acute illness, injury, mental health crises, or trauma while working in a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform rapid patient assessments and prioritize care based on acuity
- Provide emergency nursing care including medication administration, IV therapy, cardiac monitoring
- Accurately document patient care in the electronic health record
- Educate patient and families on treatment plans and discharge instructions
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and support staff
- Work with other interdisciplinary teams
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current NYS nursing licensure, limited permit or eligible.
- BLS Required
- ACLS or acute care experience preferred
Strong clinical thinking and communication skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Appreciable physical effort required; lifting, pulling, pushing, and moving patients of various size, capabilities and abilities. Some lifting, reaching, and stooping. Required to be on feet much of the time.
EXPOSURE CATEGORY:
- Category I. Tasks that involve exposure to blood and body fluid or tissues.
