Shift Details:    PPOP-PACU Float PRN:   PRN 8 hour weekday shifts – no weekends!   
PRN requirement is to work a minimum of three shifts per six week schedule.   Eligibility to participate in our 401K program with generous match after 90 days of service! 

** This position requires the flexibility to float to our four surgery locations -      Northwest Indianapolis, Greenwood, Westfield and Brownsburg **

  • OrthoIndy Hospital Northwest, located in Indianapolis, Indiana, provides outpatient care and inpatient care, with 10 operating rooms, 2 procedure rooms and a 42-bed inpatient unit for patients undergoing more invasive procedures, such as disc replacement, spinal fusion or total hip and knee joint replacement.   Other services include an urgent care, clinics, pre-op clinic, imaging and physical therapy. 
  • OrthoIndy Hospital South, located in Greenwood, Indiana, provides outpatient care and inpatient care, with four operating rooms and a 15-bed inpatient unit for patients undergoing more invasive procedures, such as disc replacement, spinal fusion or total hip and knee joint replacement.   Other services include an urgent care, clinics, imaging and physical therapy. 
  • OrthoIndy Hospital West, located in Brownsburg, Indiana, provides outpatient care for patients that includes an urgent care, clinic, imaging and physical therapy.  OI West also performs outpatient procedures and surgeries in our two operating rooms. 
  • OrthoIndy Hospital Westfield, located in Westfield, Indiana, opened four operating rooms on April 1, 2024 and provides outpatient procedures and surgeries!   Our Westfield location also provides outpatient care for patients that includes an urgent care clinic, clinics, imaging and physical therapy. 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: 

The Nursing Technician PPOP PACU works under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), preforming a variety of tasks delegated by the RN in order to care for patients. The Nursing Technician completes assigned tasks and reports information about patients to the RN. The Nursing Technician assists with obtaining vitals, and other taught skills as trained by OrthoIndy.

Essential Duties:

  1. Obtains and reports vital signs and fluid intake and output. Discontinues IV lines and urinary catheters as directed by the Registered Nurse and documents removal. Observes and reports patient conditions and behaviors to the Registered Nurse.
  2. Assists in the cleaning of equipment, furniture, and surfaces using appropriate aseptic technique and returns equipment to appropriate areas as needed.
  3. Restocks linens and supplies on the unit. Orders linen, café items for patient care.
  4. Performs phlebotomy as directed by the Registered Nurse.
  5. Performs Urine Pregnancy Tests, and blood sugars for patients as directed by Registered Nurses.
  6. Provides skin care as directed by the Registered Nurse.
  7. Reinforces patients and family education as directed by the Registered Nurse.
  8. Performs EKGs and bladder scans when directed by the Registered Nurse.
  9. Transports patients to other units, upon dismissal, and as necessary.
  10. Performs Cast Cutting, Ted Hose measurement and application.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; specialty training beyond high school preferred
  • Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license required, OR Nursing student with one semester of completed clinical rotations required, OR a minimum of 1-2 years direct patient care experience within a hospital setting and ability to earn CNA certification within six months of start date.
  • BLS certification required
