 JOB SUMMARY

Performs a variety of patient care and administrative support functions under the supervision of a UVA Community Health Registered Nurse (RN) in an inpatient or outpatient setting.

• Assists patients with personal care as needed for optimal recovery during hospitalization.

Performs basic nursing skills as delegated by an RN and in accordance with policy and procedures to promote patient health and wellness.

• Provides for a safe environment and safe delivery of care.

• Performs administrative support functions.

• Maintains necessary skills and competencies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Currently enrolled student nurses who graduate December of 2025-May 2027. BSN students who have completed their 3rd year; ASN students who have completed their 1st year. 

Students may remain employed as a Nurse Extern until graduation completion. Following graduation and board completion they will need to apply for open positions and continue through the hiring process.

Position Summary: Employee works with other members of the patient care team to deliver care to specific patient populations. The employee will maintain competency for population specific groups with consideration of physical, communication, safety, nutrition, and psychosocial needs. Education, License & Cert: High School Grad or Equivalent Experience: Must be currently enrolled in a licensed nurse education program.
