JOB SUMMARY

The Nurse Practitioner is a skilled member of the health team who provides medical and educational services to patients under the supervision of a licensed physician, according to Nurse Practitioner Protocol, and within the scope of the Nurse Practitioner License in the State of Wisconsin.  This individual works within a cooperative department, utilizing team effort with health care providers, co-workers, and the public to provide positive patient interaction.

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Required Education:

Master’s Degree in Nursing or Graduate of a nationally accredited Physician Assistant Program.

Two years nursing experience or one to two years’ experience in specialty.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

  • Current State of Wisconsin Nurse License or Nurse Compact License, and Nurse Practitioner Licensure or Certification from the National Commission on Certifications of Physician Assistants

  • Nurse Practitioner Certification awarded by a national certifying body. 
  • Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber Certification awarded by the State of Wisconsin. 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of employment.  
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification awarded by the American Heart Association.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification awarded by the American Heart Association.

Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
