Work hours: Full-time: 40 hours per week
- Four 10-hour shifts (Monday to Friday: 7am – 5pm) with
- One weekend per month (Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 1:00pm – 1:00am)

- Associate's Degree Nursing Required
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing Preferred
- 3 Years Three years in Trauma/Surgical Intensive Care and/or Emergency Department related experience Required
- Progressive leadership responsibility Preferred
- RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required And
- BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required And
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support 90 Days Required And
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support 90 Days Required Or
- ENPC - Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course Upon Hire Required And
- TNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course Upon Hire Required Or
- ATCN - Advanced Trauma Care Nurse Upon Hire Required
- Quality/Performance Improvement: Collaborates with Leadership, and appropriate team members to establish, implement, and monitor department policies/procedures, facilitate unit goals, evaluate and individualize patient care and provide direction to staff to promote quality outcomes. Ascribes to the American College of Surgeon (ACS) philosophy to obtain adequate data to initiate and implement, performance improvement process to meet standard of trauma care.
- Engages staff to promote evidence based practices within the unit. Monitors key performance indicators (KPI’s) and regulatory requirements for compliance.
- Provides bedside leadership and clinical expertise to improve quality of patient care.
- Provides safe direct patient care in coordination with other staff when unit activity dictates.
- Provide guidance in emergency or complex situations.
- Use appropriate methodology consistently for communication handoffs.
- Evaluates the outcome of patient care, consults with others on the patient care team, and adjusts nursing care processes as needed to improve outcomes.
- Manages and monitors patient and staff safety initiatives and outcomes.
- Performs pro-active risk assessments to identify potential issues.
- Models the use of High Reliability Organization (HRO) tools in everyday practice and situations and encourages staff do the same.
- Assists with development and serves as a resource to others for new system and entity based initiatives. Support ongoing sustainment of these changes.
- Integrate the ACS guidelines for trauma patient care into the continuum of patient care.
- Coordinate efforts in the progressive growth of the trauma program with input into guideline development.
- Identify trauma patients, respond to trauma activations, and participate in patient rounds and performance improvement process as indicated.
- Apply knowledge of ACS guidelines to data maintenance/monitoring and performance improvement process.
