Purpose of Position: Under supervision of the Nurse Manager and in collaboration with other team members, provides direct and indirect patient care in accordance with hospital policy and procedure.

Description
  • Assist the Registered Nurse (RN) in the coordination and care of assigned patients, including admission, treatment planning and ongoing case management during treatment stay and discharge planning.
  • Contribute to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis.
  • Monitor patients’ condition and report findings.
  • Provide assistance with daily activities such as eating, bathing and ambulation.
  • Obtain vital signs, perform dressing changes, monitor drains and IV’s.
  • Assume patient transport role as needed.
  • Administer those medications not requiring an initial or reassessment.
  • Respond to emergency medical situations in an urgent manner and perform on the spot emergency assistance.
  • Provide patients and their families with emotional and psychological support.
  • Participate in quality and process related initiatives.
  • Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
  • Performs other work-related tasks and activities as assigned or requested by manager.

Qualifications
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current Massachusetts LPN License
  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS) and must maintain certification
  • Successful completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training within 3 months of hire and must maintain certification
  • Successful passage of CCH’s Pharmacology exam
  • Successful passage of Basic Arrhythmia exam within three (3) months of hire

Schedule Details

24 hrs per week, rotating days, 3pm-11:15pm, every other weekend, rotating days and holidays.
