UW Medical Center - Montlake has a leadership opportunity for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. We are looking for someone who is interested in growing their career as an Assistant Nurse Manager.

Come work with an interdisciplinary team of neonatologists, nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, respiratory care practitioners, pharmacists, nutritionists, other health professionals and parents as members of a baby's healthcare team. Under general direction by the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager utilizes the nursing process to prioritize, delegate, and provide safe, therapeutic allocation of nursing resources to patients. The ANM makes independent judgements, decisions, and acts on a wide range of routine and complex staffing and unit workflow issues.

Unit Description

  • Our NICU cares for premature and critically ill newborn infants, born here at UWMC or transported in from outlying hospitals.
  • You will be caring for multiple births and micro preemies—babies born as early as 22 weeks' gestation.
  • As part of UW Medicine, the NICU has access to the most advanced neonatal research.
  • Our team has been instrumental in setting the standard for reducing risk of brain damage and lung problems in premature babies across the nation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead clinical practice, education, and management as delegated by and in collaboration with the nurse manager
  • Perform charge nurse duties
  • Serve as a clinical resource for patient care and staff competency
  • Facilitate education, supervision, mentorship, and evaluation of staff
  • Provide feedback to staff regarding clinical, interpersonal, and communication performance
  • Promote delivery of quality nursing care
  • Assist with ongoing unit daily operations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Participate in hospital wide committees

SCHEDULE

  • 90%, Night shift (36 hrs./week)

Requirements

  • Have/obtain a WA RN license to practice or MSL
  • Graduated from an accredited school of Nursing
  • Two or more years of level III or IV NICU nursing experience
  • Charge nurse experience
