Responsibilities

RNFA CVOR: In addition to the RN position summary, the RNFA is a registered nurse with specialized education. The development of specific technical skills enables the RNFA to assist the CV surgeon with cardiovascular procedures. Intraoperatively, the RNFA functions interdependently with the CV surgeon and applies knowledge, skill, and judgment necessary to assist the CV surgeon in performing a safe operation that yields optimal results for the patient.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES, LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Current State of Georgia Registered Nurse License Recent CVOR Operating Room experience Graduate of a recognized RNFA Program required Current BLS and ACLS certification KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED: Certified in perioperative nursing preferred

Responsibilities As a Charge Nurse, coordinates daily activities and distribution of work in area during scheduled shift; as a Preceptor Nurse, acts as a professional educator and resource for new employees, demonstrating clinical expertise and competence. The approximate amount of overall participation in direct patient care activities is 80% and Charge‑Preceptor duties is 20%. The range of roles between Charge and Preceptor may vary dependent upon patient acuity and volume issues. Works with a unit specific patient population. This position is required to set priorities based on the situation at hand, and is a combination of direct patient care, management (charge), and education (preceptor) roles with responsibility for a unit during an eight (8) to twelve (12) hour shift.
