The Veteran Homes provide direct nursing home care at facilities in Sandusky and Georgetown as well as domiciliary living to qualified veterans in Sandusky. THERAPEUTIC PROGRAM WORKER
ALL THE GOOD STUFF!
- Starting Hourly Pay: $22.60 per hour ($47,008 annually)
- 1st Raise in 6 Months: increase to $22.96 per hour ($47,757 annually)
- $500 bonus after 120 days and another $500 bonus after one year
- Multiple pay increases over your first 5 years of service, with an end salary of $25.77 per hour ($53,602 annually for first shift employees)
- Shift differential pay for 2nd & 3rd shift
- Longevity increases start at your fifth year and grows as long as you stay with the State of Ohio

What does a Therapeutic Program Worker do at the Veterans Homes?
A Therapeutic Program Worker (TPW) is a direct care worker that helps residents with daily living skills and assists them with needs. Support given to the individual will vary based on each person’s needs and capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with eating, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene, oral hygiene, dressing, grooming, communications, assist with feeding.
- Transport and attends activities or programs with residents
- Complete various daily, monthly, and other required documentation
- Observe & report any changes in symptoms, behaviors, accidents, incidents or injuries to charge nurse
- Perform light housekeeping duties in the living areas
- Applies safety & infection control measures
- Assists with redirecting unsafe actions to bring about positive outcomes
- Assist nursing personnel with admissions, discharge, & transfer of residents
Qualifications
- Current STNA/CNA certification or listed on the Ohio Nurse Aide Registry
- High school diploma or equivalent
- No experience required
