We are looking for a dedicated Nurse Practitioner like you to join our Lubbock Heart team.

What You Will do in this Role:

  • May provide only those medical services that he/she is competent to perform, which are consistent with the NPs education, training and experience, and which are performed under the supervision of a physician who is responsible for the patients cared for by that NP.
    • Evaluates and treats patients with acute and chronic complaints related to specialty.
    • Obtains complete histories and performs pertinent physical exams with assessment of normal and abnormal findings on new patient.
    • Obtains interval histories and performs pertinent examinations on routine patients. 
    • Administers orders, furnishes, and prescribes medications according to written standardized procedures.
    • Orders routine laboratory tests, screening procedures, and therapeutic procedures, including blood and blood products.
    • Orders physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology examinations, and nursing services.
    • Initiates arrangements for hospital admissions and discharges and completes appropriate paperwork.
    • Effectively communicates and interacts with patients, families, staff, and members of the community from diverse backgrounds.
    • Recognizes situations that require the immediate attention of a physician, and initiates life-saving procedures when necessary.
    • Facilitates the coordination of inpatient and outpatient care and services as needed.
    • Ensures compliance with legal, regulatory, and clinical policies and procedures.
    • Participates in quality improvement initiatives.

What Qualifications You Will Need:

  • Graduate of an accredited NP program.
  •  At least two-year experience as a nurse practitioner.
  • Cardiac experience preferred.
  • Worked in acute care unit minimum of 5 years preferred
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) from an agency accredited by the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS).
  • Current BCLS and ACLS required.
  • An individual DEA license issued by the United States DEA for Scheduled II-V controlled substances.

Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital specializes in the care of cardiac, orthopedic, nephrology, urology, and general medical patients.  We are also a highly active inpatient center mainly centered on surgical procedures that include cardiothoracic, orthopedic, urology, and general surgery.  We have a 24-hour Emergency Department with 5 fully equipped ED rooms, 4 fully operating OR rooms, 4 cardiac catherization labs with 1 electrophysiology room, 11-day surgery rooms, 58 acute care beds spread over three units, and 16 cardiac critical care rooms.  We pride ourselves on giving the best overall care possible to our patients and on our family style atmosphere that includes everyone: patients and their families, physicians, and our employees.
