Under the direction of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Director, plans, directs, organizes, coordinates, and evaluates overall clinical and administrative activities of an assigned nursing unit. In the absence of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Director, assumes ultimate responsibility for staff oversight and the care of patients on a nursing unit. Supervises, evaluates, guides and counsels nursing staff in their work performance. Ensures that staffing patterns provide optimal delivery of nursing service. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of nursing theory and practice and principles, methods and techniques involved in providing nursing care, familiarity with organization and function of departments, policies, procedures and regulations and knowledge of principles of leadership and management. Assists in meeting the educational needs of the staff. National certification in Nursing or Healthcare related specialty preferred.

Schedule consists of 60 hours in a 6-week schedule, with the ability to work more hours. 12 hr. Day/Night rotating, holiday requirement, and every third weekend requirement. Flex to other units and hematology oncology clinic as per the unit’s rotation pull guidelines as needed. You must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current AHA Healthcare Provider (HCP) Certification required PALS optional but required to obtain within a year of hire. 5 West is a 24-bed unit that has been designated as the Hematology/Transplant and Cellular Therapy and Endocrine unit for the Nemours.
