Interventional Radiologist Advanced Practice Provider (APP)
Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Physician Assistant trained in Interventional Radiology to join our team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings, focusing on minimally invasive, image-guided procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care:
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including history taking, physical examinations, and review of imaging studies
- Perform pre-procedural evaluations and obtain informed consent for interventional radiology procedures
- Provide post-procedural care and monitoring in recovery areas
- Manage patient care during interventional procedures under physician supervision
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the interventional radiology team
- Provide patient and family education regarding procedures, risks, benefits, and post-procedure care
Procedural Support:
- Assist with minimally invasive procedures including but not limited to:
- Vascular interventions (angioplasty, stent placement, embolization)
- Drainage procedures (abscess, pleural, biliary)
- Biopsy procedures (CT-guided, ultrasound-guided)
- Pain management interventions (nerve blocks, joint injections)
- Dialysis access procedures
- Perform minor procedures independently as permitted by state regulations and institutional protocols
- Maintain sterile technique and radiation safety protocols
Administrative Duties:
- Complete accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records
- Coordinate care with referring physicians and other healthcare team members
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental meetings
- Maintain continuing education requirements and professional development
Required Qualifications
Education & Certification:
- Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- DEA registration
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in interventional radiology procedures preferred
- Experience with fluoroscopy and radiation safety protocols preferred
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Proficiency with electronic medical records systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications
- Board certification in relevant specialty area
- Previous experience in interventional radiology or vascular surgery
- Additional certifications in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) or trauma life support
- Experience with EMR systems
Work Environment
- Hospital-based position with both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities
- Exposure to radiation requiring adherence to safety protocols
- Fast-paced environment with emergency and urgent cases

- Offers 24/7 Hospitalist Onsite Coverage
- Very busy Emergency Department staffed by ED certified physicians
- Acute Care Floor as well as 10-bed Geropsych Unit and 15-bed Physical Rehabilitation Unit

Requirements
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Required Credential(s):
• BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Physician Assistant credentialed from the Tennessee Committee on Physicians Assistants obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
• Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Master's degree preferred.
Work Experience:
• 1 year of experience preferred.
