Responsibilities

Ascension St John is looking for a Cardiovascular APP for our elite Cardiology team.

First assistance experience preferred, but not required. 

This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Ascension St John to provide medical services to patients.

Position Details: 

  • Participates in the care and medical decision making for preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patients.
  • Endoscopic Vein & Radial Artery harvest 
  • Surgical First assistant: cases include CABG, aortic and mitral valve repair/replacement, ECMO cannulation
  • Order, perform and interpret imaging, data and labs.
  • Perform procedures such as central line placement, arterial line placement and chest tube placement. 
  • Navigate and create records in the patient chart using the Cerner EMR system.

Schedule/Call Rotation:  

  • Position is Full-time day-shift, (4) 10-hour shifts/week with rotating on-call assignments.  
  • Daily, Weekend and Holiday On-Call assignments are split evenly among the on call team (1 in 4).

Responsibilities:

  • Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.
  • Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
  • Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
  • Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years CV Surgery OR experience preferred
  • Current Board Certification
  • Current BLS and ACLS 
  • Current prescribing privileges including DEA license for controlled substances.
  • Oklahoma State License & CSR
