The Director of Nursing is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operations of the Nursing Department while ensuring high standards of clinical quality and regulatory compliance. As a Director of Nursing, you will lead nursing services, support staff performance, and maintain survey readiness while driving excellence in resident care.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all nursing operations as the Director of Nursing

• Plan, organize, and evaluate nursing services, programs, and activities in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations

• Develop, implement, and update nursing policies and procedures

• Oversee clinical quality, infection control, and survey readiness

• Provide written and verbal reports to the Administrator regarding nursing department activities

• Coordinate nursing services with other departments to ensure continuity of care

• Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and resident-centered care

• Maintain confidentiality of resident and employee information in accordance with HIPAA

Staffing and Supervision

• Determine and assign appropriate staffing levels of RNs, LPNs, and CNAs

• Develop work assignments and schedules; delegate authority appropriately

• Conduct routine rounds to monitor performance and compliance with care standards

• Partner with Human Resources to complete evaluations and support fair disciplinary practices

• Supervise nursing leadership and support staff development

Qualifications

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse RN required

• Nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting preferred

• Minimum of one year of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting

• Strong regulatory, operational, and people-management skills

• Effective communication and leadership abilities
