Lakeside Neurologic, located in beautiful central Florida, is currently accepting resumes for the position of Certified Medication Technician. Lakeside Neurologic treats pediatric and adult survivors of traumatic brain injury. Our facility provides treatment ranging from Skilled Nursing Care to Behavioral Health Care. The facility is located on 900 acres just outside of Wauchula, Florida.

Qualifications are HS Diploma or GED and Current Certified Medication Technician. Two to five years of previous experience is preferred in this position.  Certified Medication Technicians work under the supervision of the Director of Health Education Services and Charge Nurse.

Shift:   6:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. (12 hours)

Full time and Part time Positions are available.

The Certified Medication Technicians duties are:

  • Checking that the medications match the doctors orders.
  • Delivering the medications to residents.
  • Assist residents with self administration of medications.
  • Staying with residents while they take the medication.
  • Recording that the medication was taken and the time medication was taken.
  • Recording the necessary vital signs.
  • Observing and noting any adverse effects the medications seem to have.
  • Restock medication carts.
  • Checking medication room/carts for expired medications.
  • Completing log books (i.e., refrigerator temperature glucose monitor checks) checking and restocking first aid kits.
  • Other administrative duties within the Health Education Services Department.

Follow the labeling policies and practices of the facility. Ensure that all medications administered are properly labeled. Assist with medication charting as directed by the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse. Follow facility procedures in regard to charting of medications. Follow facility policies and procedures regarding the destroying of medications; assist in carrying out these rules under the direction of the facility pharmacist or Director of Nursing Services, including the documentation requirements.
