What You’ll Do

In conjunction with the medical plan of care, independently performs systematic and continuous assessment of the physical, emotional, clinical, and psychosocial needs of assigned patients and families; plans and implements appropriate interventions; and evaluates effectiveness and adjusts plan as indicated in a timely manner in the provision of safe and effective care.

Requirements

  • AHA ACLS within 180 days.
  • AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers within 30 days.
  • AHA PALS Provider within 180 days.
  • Current Kansas Registered Nurse license or current Registered Nurse license from a compact state. If a compact license is held, it must be in the nurse’s state of residence.
  • Perioperative RN Competency Day annually by transcript due date.

What You’ll Do The Diabetes Nurse Educator (DNE) is responsible for diabetes care and education to patients through assessment of diabetes needs, development and implementation of educational care plans for patients. Education will be provided to patients within the diabetes education program as ordered by a healthcare provider (physician and nurse practitioner) in the outpatient setting. Inpatient education will be provided to patients by referrals, orders and criteria set to meet HFAP guidelines. The DNE must be able to provide accurate diabetes education to a wide population taking into consideration age, socioeconomic level, cultural background, literacy/education level. The DNE demonstrates knowledge by utilization of best practice guidelines using Standards of Care and Clinical Practice Guidelines. The DNE will be able to provide training to patients checking blood sugar and administering insulin with use of a variety of blood sugar monitoring systems and insulin delivery methods. The DNE may provide diabetes information to peers, healthcare workers, students, and the public in a variety of forums such as media interviews, lectures, seminars, social media, and written articles, as needed to promote diabetes education. Requirements 1. Certified Diabetes Educator and/or 15 hour CEU in diabetes annually 2. Certified Diabetes Educator or 15 hours Diabetes related CEUs annually by transcript due date. 3. Current Missouri Registered Nurse license or current Registered Nurse license from a compact state. If a compact license is held, it must be in the nurse’s state of residence. RN - Admit/Discharge - Part-Time

Schedule: Part-Time Every Friday 11:30 - 20:00 and every other Thursday 11:30 - 20:00 About Us - Admit Discharge Located inside Freeman West, the Admitting and Discharge Lounge (ADL) is a place where patients can go to wait for a bed assignment, wait for a ride home upon discharge, and receive outpatient infusions and treatments. Our Admit/Discharge Team responds to requests for help with admissions, discharges, and other tasks on the inpatient nursing units. The Admit/Discharge team has helped to improve patient flow, improve efficiency on the nursing units, and reduce overall wait times. The Admit Discharge Lounge is staffed with nurses and nurse technicians who effectively communicate and provide excellent patient care. Open Monday-Friday 6:30am –10pm ; Saturday-Sunday 6:30am - 7:00pm What You’ll Do Works with Admissions, Bed Control, and Direct Call in the appropriate placement of direct admit patients, completing nursing assessment, and monitoring patients until taken to the nursing unit. Assists nursing units with admissions and discharges and monitors any patients in the Admit/Discharge Lounge while waiting for transportation at discharge. Requirements 1. AHA ACLS within 90 days. 2.
