What You'll Do:

Prepare and organizes the operating room, equipment, instruments and supplies per the manufacturer’s instructions for use as required for various surgical procedures; Adheres to standard precautions including the use of personal protective equipment
Anticipates and provides instruments and supplies to the surgical team during procedure(s)
Performs sponge, sharps, and instrument counts according to policy.
Prepares patient specimens and medications of sterile field according to policy.
Sets up and maintains an organized sterile field.
Utilizes proper body mechanics in moving, transporting, and positioning patients, stretchers, and/or tables in order to prevent injury to self, patient and other personnel.
Prepares sterile dressings as needed
Provide circulator with product packaging information for appropriate patient charging
Cleans and prepares surgical instruments for processing and transports them to the decontamination area
Assists with post procedure cleaning of the operative or other invasive procedure room and preparation of room for subsequent patients

What You'll Bring/Requirements:

Diploma/certificate from an approved Surgical Technologist program, an Associate’s Degree in Surgical Technology, or an Associate’s Degree in other healthcare related field
Maintain continuous certification in American Heart Association’s BLS. Surgical Tech diploma/certification or an Associate’s Degree in Surgical Technology, or an Associate’s Degree or higher degree in a healthcare related field.

Job Overview We currently have an opening for a full-time Surgical Technologist to join our Portland, OR team. Provides quality individualized patient care based on the application of scientific knowledge, surgical technologist education and interpersonal skills. Care is provided primarily during the intraoperative phase and also includes preoperative and postoperative phases of the patient's surgical experience. Responsibilities Competency to create and maintain a sterile field, providing equipment and supplies, performing sponge, sharps and instruments counts. Providing visualization of operative site. Independently pulls cases utilizing preference sheets and OR special equipment lists. Updates, reviews lists making changes as necessary. Reviews cases, and equipment prior to start of case. Is scrubbed in and has equipment prior to patient arriving into the OR suite Verifying efficacy of equipment, operating, maintaining, verifying, and recording efficacy of equipment Determines and documents efficacy of equipment. Records reflect accurate description of operations, sterilization, and use of equipment Familiar with proper assembly, operation, and disassembly of all OR equipment and attends in-service on new equipment Attends in-service on new equipment, completes competency evaluation successful in operation and maintaining equipment used within the department This is not an all inclusive list of this job's responsibilities.
