On Call Registered Nurse – Developmental Disabilities

KVC is seeking a compassionate and experienced On Call Registered Nurse to support our Developmental Disabilities Department. This contracted role provides clinical guidance to team members and Shared Living providers who support individuals with disabilities in home settings. The position is primarily on-call, offering direction on medications, medical concerns, and urgent situations while also assisting with intakes and provider education.
Education & Licensure
Registered Nurse Licensure through the State of Nebraska
Valid driver’s license and auto insurance
Hybrid; Mostly remote
Experience
Two or more years practicing under an RN license required
Two or more years of experience with Developmental Disabilities preferred
Position Summary
The On Call RN serves as a clinical resource for KVC staff and subcontracted providers. Responsibilities include responding to on-call needs related to medication questions, medication errors, and urgent medical concerns; completing initial in-home assessments; and supporting ongoing training and medical coordination for individuals served.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide on-call support to providers with response within 30 minutes
Guide participants regarding PRN medications and recommend urgent or emergency care when needed
Complete in-person assessments of individuals with disabilities within 7 days of placement, primarily in the Omaha area with occasional travel to Lincoln and surrounding communities
Teach a 2-hour Medication Aide course at the KVC office once per month
Assist with development of medical protocols and collaborate with medical professionals as needed
Participate in the Human and Legal Rights Committee to approve interim medication or restriction changes
Hours vary based on need, typically 10–20 hours per month
