Under the direction of the Director of Infection Prevention, Employee Health and Wellness, the Employee Health nurse is responsible for providing direct care to employees using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Performs occupational health related functions for employees such as pre-employment and annual health screenings, administering immunizations, performs urine drug screen testing, managing workplace injuries, and developing wellness/safety programs to prevent illness and reduce lost work time. Maintains detailed, confidential employee health records in compliance with HIPAA and ensures the organization meets all federal and state medical surveillance requirements.
Education Required: Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing
License, Certification and/or Registration:
- Currrent Alabama or Multi-State nursing licensure
- BCLS required within the orientation period
- Certifcation in Occupational Health Nursing (e.g., COHN) preferred
Experience: 5 years nursing experience (emergency, occ health, urgent care experience preferred)
Additional Skills/Abilities: Strong communication, counseling, problem-solving, and confidentiality.
