JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Surgical Technologist in our Duke GI-Endoscopy at Brier Creek clinic located in Raleigh, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team to provide direct and indirect care to patients.

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Has basic knowledge of instrumentation.  Prepare and set up medical supplies and equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
  • Demonstrates correct and safe instrumentation passing and assists provider in a safe and accurate manner
  • Maintains technical skills for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to include obtaining specimens, attaching vital sign equipment, and positioning the patient.
  • Assist physician and nursing personnel during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures to include, handling instruments and equipment, calling out equipment readings, and collecting and labeling specimens while maintaining infection control standards.
  • Manually clean endoscopes and then perform the proper process to complete High Level Disinfection of these scopes.
  • Assist with the teaching of newly hired technologists and student technologists.
  • Assist nurse with transporting the patient into the procedure room and to recovery after the procedure.
  • Anticipate the needs of the Endoscopist and the procedural nurse.
  • Clean and dress stretchers in preparation for next patient.
  • Clean procedure rooms, including procedural tables, countertops, floor mats and wall suction systems.

 

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or maintains an accredited Surgical Technologist certification (NCCT or NBSTSA). Or, provides evidence of the successful completion of an appropriate training program for Surgical Technology in the United States Military.
  • Level I- Entry level position for new graduates of Surgical Technology program or Surgical Technologists with 0 to 18 months experience.
  • Level II- Requires 6 to 12 months of full-time equivalent Surgical Technology or relevant military experience.
  • BLS required
