Nurse Practitioner - Gynecology

Harmony Gynecology is hiring a Nurse Practitioner, experienced in Gynecology, to work full-time, 30-32 hours/week (M-F), outpatient only. No weekends!

  • Primary location Edison, NJ. Satellite office in Somerset.
  • Team - 3 Gyn and 1 NP
  • Sees Ob patients up to 12 weeks.

The Nurse Practitioner performs physical examinations, confers with patients in person and by phone/electronically, collaborates with others in the department to ensure a smooth flow of patient care consistent with established quality indicators, and participates in the overall coordination of patient care. Other job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Practices under the standard procedure established for the NP role, consistent with company policy and in accordance with all legal requirements. 
  • Conducts age-appropriate assessments of patients, including history taking and physical examination consistent with department protocol. 
  • Performs routine physical examinations within scope of practice, including pelvic examinations, breast examinations, PAP tests, and any relevant infection screenings. Performs IUD insertions/removals, Endometrial Biopsies, works with Pessaries - education & maintenance; may perform Colposcopies
  • Provides education on women’s issues, preventative care, contraceptive methods, and lifestyle modifications.  
  • Orders diagnostic testsand prescribes medications within scope of practice. 
  • Provides expert, compassionate care for women during the menopausal transition (perimenopause, Menopause, postmenopause) by managing symptoms like hot flashes, mood wings, and sleep issues, educating patients on treatment options (hormonal/non-hormonal), offering lifestyle advice (diet, exercise, supplements), and supporting overall well-being with evidence-based care.
  • Confers with patients in person and by phone/electronically, collaborates with others in the department to ensure a smooth flow of patient care consistent with established quality indicators and participates in the overall coordination of patient care.  
  • Performs assessment/data collection in an on-going systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and cognitive status, patient/family education, family involvement, and patient advocacy. 
  • Consults with supervising physicians or other clinicians as dictated by patient need and assessment findings. 

      Qualifications:

      • Strong understanding of healthcare principles, including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and pathophysiology.  
      • Ability to analyze complex situations, make sound clinical judgements, and adapt treatment plans as necessary.  
      • Effective communication with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals. Ability to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and procedures clearly and empathetically. 
      • Strong computer proficiency and understanding and knowledge of EHR and healthcare technologies. 
      • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team. 
      • Willingness to pursue continuing education and stay updated on advances in Women’s Health. 
      • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MS, MSN, or DNP); with focus on Women's health highly preferred.
      • Board certification - WHNP, FNP, ANP, or similar.
      • Current, unrestricted New Jersey APN license, CDS & DEA.  
      • 1-2 years' Women's Health experience (outside of clinical education experience).
      • Proficient with endometrial biopsy, IUD insertions and removals. Colposcopy a plus.
      • Experience with providing menopausal care.
      • Experience with eClinicalWorks (EMR) helpful but not required.
      • Eligible to participate in state programs including but not limited to Medicare and Medicaid.

      Pay or shift range: $90,000 USD to $110,000
