Job Summary
Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR) is an integral part of patient care and recovery after diagnosis of certain cardiovascular events and procedures such as heart attack, angioplasty/stent, heart failure, and valve repair/replacement and bypass surgery. The CR nurse coordinates patient activities, provides coaching and education, communication with referring provider, and safety oversight during medically supervised exercise. CR utilizes the expertise of multidisciplinary team to address the following: exercise training, nutritional counseling, smoking cessation counseling, medication management/education and behavioral counseling focusing on stress reduction. The end goal is to help program participants recover strength and confidence and make lifestyle changes that promote and maintain maximum health.
Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $93.47 - $121.11 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation program
- Minimum of three (3) years of work experience as an RN in Clinical Cardiology
- Strong telemetry interpretation skills
- Health and behavior coach training or certification. Competent in health coaching modalities such as Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change.
- Telehealth work experience, particularly Cardiac Rehab telehealth individual and/or group exercise and consultative appointments.
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing Degree
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
- Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
- Active American Heart Association ACLS Certification
