Job Summary and Qualifications

The Certified Surgical Technician assists in patient care by preparation and performance. If routine and delegated duties according to standards of care, practice, policies and procedures of the Medical Center, and within the scope of training/certification. Provides assistance in emergency procedures as well as elective and scheduled procedures. Participates in call schedule to assist the department in providing 24-hour coverage.

Determines priority on patient care and completes work within appropriate time frame.
Ensures accuracy & completeness of work performed.
Follows Medical Center’s policy and procedure in performing job functions, skills and tasks.
Willing to adjust personal schedule in cases of workload fluctuations or other departmental needs.
When assigned work is complete, seeks additional tasks to be done.
Performs well in stress and emergency situations, demonstrating effective coping skills
Follows through with assignments and informs supervisor if unable to complete task.

What qualifications you will need:

Basic Cardiac Life Support
(CST) Certified Surgical Technologist must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date

What you will do in this role: · Assembles supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures. · Prepares sterile instrument table. · Maintains aseptic techniques and actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique. · Positions patient according to type of surgery. · Assists the surgical team in surgical procedures which may include passing instruments, sponges and sutures. · Maintains work area. · Gathers equipment for cleaning and sterilization. · Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. What you will need in this role: · High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of an accredited OR Tech program. Minimum one year of Acute Care Hospital OR Scrub Tech experience required. · 1 - 3 years of recent acute care experience preferred. · Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider (BLS certification). · Call required HCA Florida JFK Hospital was named in honor of our 35 th president.
