General Statement of Duties

Serve as liaison between community partners using full scope of professional training and therapeutic skills for pregnant women with substance use disorder and substance exposed infants; performs related work as required
Essential Duties
Serve as liaison between hospitals, community OBGYNs, DSS and the CSBs; provide education to those in the medical field about requirements for referring to treatment, substance use identification, trauma informed practices, and the benefits of early intervention to avoid neonatal abstinence syndrome and provide proper care for the mother. ork together with the Chesterfield RN to serve as a hospital liaison for the following localities: Colonial Heights, Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico and Richmond city.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a post-secondary nursing program and two (2) years previous relevant nursing experience in a psychiatric care setting; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Additional Information
Two (2) years previous relevant nursing experience in a psychiatric/substance use care setting preferred; TB Screening and Child Abuse Registry Check required; a criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse by the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Nursing; must hold licensure or accreditation for the appropriate discipline
Reimbursement for license and certification renewal and training opportunities
A valid Virginia Driver's license required to perform assigned duties at various locations Countywide
Salary commensurate with experience

- Work together with the Chesterfield RN to serve as a hospital liaison for the following localities: Colonial Heights, Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico and Richmond city.
- Provide education to OBGYNs, hospital staff and other medical professionals on identifying substance use in women, how and where to refer these women for treatment, and the requirements for reporting infants that are born substance exposed
- Develop positive working relationships with the medical field, CSBs, DSS staff and serve as a liaison between them
- Ensure women are referred to treatment needed and provide a warm handoff when possible
- Ensure substance exposed infants are linked to DSS
- Coordinate training for medical professionals
