Job Description Summary

We are seeking a part-time Advanced Practice Provider (PA/NP) with at least 2 years clinical experience in primary care to work in a Med-Peds primary care practice seeing adult patients and children. This position is 0.75 FTE, seeing patients 3 full days a week of in-person clinical care at our Dantzler Medicine-Pediatric practice located in North Charleston, with additional telehealth hours to meet required 27 total patient-facing hours per week. Additionally there are 3 hours of clinical administrative time per week for a total of 30 work hours per week. Duties include same-day and return patient clinical visits, as well as shared management of patient portal intervisit care.

Job Duties:

Provides direct care to patients through the following activities:

  • Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations

  • Evaluate and treat on the basis of history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline

  • Performs the following therapeutic procedures in accordance with procedural privileges, skill and proficiency as approved by the Supervising/Collaborating Physician:

    • pap/gyn exam

    • Cryotherapy

    • Incision and drainage of wounds

    • Simple skin biopsies

    • Intramuscular, subcutaneous and other advanced injections

  • Initiates referrals to other health care providers, and/or consults with the attending physician or the collaborating physician

  • Documents and bills for direct care provided

  • Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice

  • Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research

  • Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization

  • Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education

  • Potential to precept students at MUSC enrolled as an advanced practice provider student; and facilitates the learning of other new team members
