This opportunity is full time 7:00pm-7:30am
Assist the Director with daily operations of the unit by providing employee supervision, quality improvement activities, and immediate follow-up to patient, physician and employee issues.
Practices within the scope of the Illinois Nurse Practice Act to ensure the delivery of comprehensive, high quality, individualized nursing care, based upon knowledge, experience and critical thinking skills.
Demonstrate the mission, values and philosophy of CFMC System.
Essential Responsibilities
- Exercises independent judgment and leadership on daily operations of the unit and advises the anager.
- Serves as a clinical, educational and supervisory resource to the nursing staff.
- Makes patient/staff assignments based on key factors such as acuity, staff competency and skill mix.
- Manages the appropriate utilization of unit resources (i.e. supplies and labor).
- Monitors Quality Assessment and Quality Improvement on a monthly basis.
- Ensures the enculturation and implementation of the National Patient Safety Goals and Core Measures.
- Manages and resolves unit conflict and executes service recovery principles.
- Makes ongoing assessment of staff performance and providing individual/team feedback.
- Prepares staff performance evaluations in collaboration with the Director.
- Participates in hospital/unit committee/council activities.
- Ensures professional development of self through participation in seminars, certifications, professional affiliations.
- This position is 50% Staffing and 50% Administration

Requirements
Education and/or Experience
- Minimum of 2 years RN experience with proven reliability in a leadership role (e.g. charge nurse/preceptor)
- Membership in professional nursing organization or council/chapter encouraged; demonstrate proficiency in physical assessment and clinical nursing practice
- Experience in an Cardiac Care highly preferred
- RN degree from an accredited School of Nursing required; BSN preferred.
