Full-time, Day Shift 

10-week Summer Nurse Externship program, Monday, June 1st – Friday, August 7th, 2026

 

In conjunction with the University of Chicago Medicine’s mission to provide superior health care, the mission of the Nurse Extern Program is to provide exceptional professional development for students completing their last year in a BSN, or direct entry MSN program. The focus of the nurse externship program will include Medical/Surgical & General Medicine departments.

Required Qualifications

  • BLS (CPR)
  • Request 2 professional reference letters prior to the interview - one letter is required from a nursing instructor
  • Copy of most recent transcript
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher required
  • Be enrolled full-time in an accredited BSN or direct-entry MSN program
  • Must be entering your final year in a BSN or direct-entry MSN program in the fall of 2026

Nurse Externship Details

  • Candidates need to be available for Three, 12-hour shifts for the full duration of the 10-week program
  • Positions will include Day and Night shift opportunities.
