  • The Critical Care Nurse Specialist serves as a critical member of the Mary Bridge Critical Care and Congenital Cardiac Program leadership teams, in collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
  • Develop/update policies, procedures and guidelines for Critical Care Services at Mary Bridge (including Congenital Heart Program, CICU, PICU, ECMO and other associated services).
  • Functions as an expert clinician for critical care services, ensuring care is safe, focused on outcomes, and evidence based).
  • Supports development of the Congenital Cardiac Program with nursing and interdisciplinary education.
  • Eligible for sign on bonus

Position Summary

The Nurse Specialist (NS) leads the advancement of nursing practice at the micro and macro levels. Clinical judgement and collaboration enhance nursing care and its impact on the unique characteristics of the patient in order to devise a plan of care that ensures advocacy. The incumbent translates evidence to achieve safe, quality, and cost-effective outcomes. The NS leads organizational and system changes using systems thinking to optimize resources and improve outcomes. Additional responsibilities include analyzing and evaluating data to ensure practice is patient-centered, safe, timely, effective, and efficient. The NS also designs strategies and interventions to promote optimization within 3 spheres of impact (patient, nurse and systems). The NS functions as an expert clinician and patient advocate.

    Requirements

    • Master’s degree required, DNP or PhD preferred
    • Current Registered Nurse license in Washington State or Multistate License endorsement (MLS)
    • Nursing Certification or related professional certification; if not in possession at time of hire, must acquire within one (1) year of hire
    • Five (5) years of experience with the assigned patient population

    Pay and Benefit Expectations

    We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $135,637.00 - $191,214.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.

    Charge Nurse - CICU 0.75-0.9 FTE (Nights) *Sign on bonus up to $15,000 + Relocation for qualified external, experienced Pediatric ICU nurses* Position can be offered as either a 0.75FTE (30 hours per week), or 0.9FTE (36 hours per week) based on applicant preference. This CICU is a 24-bed unit quaternary care referral center for four states: Washington, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho (WAMI region). Patients cared for are newborns up to young adults with acquired and congenital heart disease. The CICU supports robust mechanical circulatory assist and cardiac transplant programs. Specialized care provided in the CICU includes cerebral oximetry monitoring, inhaled nitric oxide, temporary pacemakers, heart failure management, open chest procedures, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Extracorporeal life support represents a highly specialized form of cardiopulmonary support that includes the use of ECMO and ventricular assist devices (VAD). As an integral member of the health care team, the Charge RN functions within the scope of practice as defined by the State and the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice. Responsible for the planning, organization and delivery of safe and timely patient and family care for all patients on the unit during each shift or for providing safe direct patient care.
