Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse for the Brief Treatment department within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.

The primary purpose of the Advanced Practice Nurse (Primary Care) position is to serve as an expert in the delivery of advanced nursing care onsite and offsite in independent living, group and boarding homes. The APN functions collaboratively with physician of protocol for prescriptive practice. Works collaboratively within the treatment team to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and assessment services to clients. Demonstrates competency according to the American Nursing Association Advanced Practice Standards for Psychiatric Nursing.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Demonstrates a commitment to maintain the standard of clinical practice adapted by the American Nurses Association and ensures that nursing care meets the national standards for the Clinical Nurse Specialist.
  • Follows protocols for prescriptive practice.
  • Delivers high quality care as rated by supervisor, collaborating physician and patient feedback.
  • Consults with physicians, psychiatrist, and other clinical staff members as necessary.
  • Coordinates care with Primary Care Provider.
  • Provides advanced practice nursing care to patients suffering from acute or chronic mental health problems, managing therapeutic regimes according to protocols.
