- 22 bed Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit
- 25 bed Neuro Progressive Care Unit
- 30 bed Neuro/Telemetry Stroke Unit
- 38 bed Neuro Surgical Uni
- 28 bed Neuro Overflow Unit
- 3 Neuro IR biplanes to support a high-volume mechanical thrombectomy center
- Stroke Clinician RNs respond to all Stroke Activations and abstract concurrent and retrospective data
- Stroke Coordinator, Stroke Program Neuroscience APRN and Medical Directors are engaged in using the latest technology to provide expedited stroke treatment and care coordination
- The department prides itself in high performing staff with excellent critical thinking skills
- Excellent Multidisciplinary Support and collaboration with other THR Stroke Coordinators
- Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team

Here’s What You Need
- Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing required
- BSN preferred
- Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
- 1-year staff development or adult education required
- 2-years related clinical experience required
- BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 Days of hire required
- Positive interpersonal skills and leadership, oral communication skills, attention to details, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to accept changes to meet the need of the program and team to support quality stroke patient care
- Stroke Clinicians respond to Stroke Activations in the Emergency Department and In-House, and must maintain current knowledge of clinical practice in the stroke patients.
- Demonstrates/models excellence in teamwork, communication, and nursing practice through the unitization of advance concepts in the areas of assessment, diagnosis, implementation and evaluation of acute stroke patient care.
- Reviews implementation of stroke orders protocols and follows up as needed to ensure compliance.
- Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical outcomes that support departmental and organizational goals within the hospital entity and overall Texas Health System.
- Collects concurrent and retrospective data and assists in the implementation of practice changes as needed. In conjunction with the Stroke Program Coordinator, coordinates education and verifies competence of staff performing NIHSS.
- Assists in achievement in the provision of quality care to the stroke patient population.
- Assist in the development of appropriate policies and procedures required for the provision of effective and efficient stroke care.
- Provide community outreach through community events including but not limited to local EMS and Fire stations to promote the wellness, disease awareness, and treatments of stroke.
