The RN Manager oversees the daily clinical operations of the Assisted Living community, ensuring high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, and effective leadership of the caregiving team. This role is responsible for care coordination, staff supervision, assessment and service planning, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment for residents. The RN Manager collaborates with residents, families, physicians, and administrative leadership to promote resident well-being and person-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Oversight & Resident Care
- Conduct initial and ongoing resident assessments to determine care needs and appropriate service levels.
- Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized service plans.
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and ensure timely interventions.
- Manage medication administration systems, including oversight of MAR accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure care is delivered according to residents’ health needs, physician orders, and facility policies.
Staff Leadership & Supervision
- Provide direct supervision to caregivers, medication passers, and LPNs (if applicable).
- Assist in hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and evaluating clinical staff.
- Ensure proper staffing levels are maintained to meet resident needs.
- Foster a supportive, teamwork-driven environment focused on quality care.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with state assisted living regulations and facility policies.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Lead or participate in quality assurance activities, audits, and care reviews.
- Prepare for and participate in surveys, inspections, and regulatory visits.
Care Coordination & Communication
- Communicate effectively with residents, family members, and healthcare providers regarding care needs and service changes.
- Coordinate outside services such as therapy, home health, hospice, or medical appointments.
- Participate in resident meetings and family conferences as needed.
Safety & Risk Management
- Promote and monitor resident and staff safety practices.
- Investigate incidents, complete required reporting, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure infection control standards are maintained throughout the community.
Qualifications
- Current RN license in good standing.
- 2–3 years of nursing experience, preferably in assisted living, long-term care, or geriatrics.
- Prior supervisory or management experience strongly preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage changing resident needs.
- Proficiency in electronic documentation systems.
