Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to residents in a long-term care facility. The RN oversees daily clinical operations, assesses resident conditions, implements care plans, and supervises nursing staff including LPNs and CNAs. This role plays a critical part in promoting resident well-being, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting a compassionate care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive resident assessments and respond to changes in health status.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions.
Supervise and delegate duties to LPNs, CNAs, and other staff, ensuring high standards of care.
Communicate with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding resident care.
Document care accurately and in a timely manner in compliance with state, federal, and facility policies.
Respond promptly to emergencies and medical crises, following proper protocols.
Participate in quality assurance initiatives, audits, and regulatory surveys.
Educate residents and families on care plans, health conditions, and treatments.
Ensure adherence to infection control, safety, and HIPAA regulations.
Serve as a role model for professionalism, accountability, and compassionate care.
Qualifications:
Active RN license in the state of employment
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN)
Current CPR/BLS certification (required)
At least 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in long-term care or geriatric settings
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities
Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR/EHR)
