Registered Nurse School Setting - Akron, OH

A full-semester contract opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide dedicated care within an early childhood school setting in Barberton, OH. This position involves working closely one-on-one with a 12-year-old female student in 5th grade who requires specialized medical support. The role demands comfort with flexible attendance, as the students schedule may include extended absences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive tracheostomy care and manage oxygen dependency.
  • Provide nursing support to a wheelchair-bound student utilizing eye-gazing communication.
  • Collaborate with a support team including paraeducators, RBTs, CNAs, or LPNs for student supervision.
  • Adapt to varying schedules, including days when the student is absent.
  • Attend remote and in-person meetings with the students parents.
  • Ensure compliance with district and school-specific onboarding processes, including fingerprinting and contract requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Valid OH RN license.
  • Proven experience with tracheostomy care.
  • Ability to work part-time or full-time between 7:00 AM and approximately 2:30-3:00 PM.
  • Flexibility in attendance given student absences.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with school staff and family.

Location: Barberton, Ohio, serving a single early childhood school with close proximity to the students home.
