Responsibilities

The Behavioral Health Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Using leadership skills and the nursing process the RN strives to meet the needs of the patient/significant others in a safe, caring, professional manner. Provides for the well being of the patients through patient advocacy, education, and effective collegial communication with physicians, other departments and staff. Responsible for maintaining and improving clinical skills through professional development and serves as a role model for others. Performs responsibilities within the scope of practice, Hospital/Nursing Policy, State, regulatory and accreditation standards. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

1. Must have current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.3. Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards. 4. Working knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units. 5. Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.
