Lorien Mount Airy is located right off Interstate 70 in Carroll County, MD and within close proximity of Frederick, Howard, and Montgomery Counties. In fact, the Town of Mount Airy encompasses portions of all four counties! This makes for a quick and easy commute from many directions. Our facility includes assisted living, long-term care, and skilled nursing/sub-acute rehabilitations. We also have ventilator care with a respiratory therapist on-site. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required : Work requires ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and a thorough knowledge of psychiatric nursing and physical assessment skills - acquired through two years of college education in nursing. Work requires current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland at the time of appointment and continually throughout tenure in position. Work requires a level of knowledge of nursing process and physical assessment - acquired through one to two years' inpatient psychiatric nursing, including regular practice of physical assessment skills and demonstrated teaching skills. Work requires a relatively high level of analytical abilities sufficient to identify nursing care problems arising during a prescribed course of ECT, pre-operatively, intra-operatively, and post-operatively. Work requires interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients, staff, other departments and disciplines, families, and physicians (51-80% of work time). Works with severely ill psychiatric patients, frequently producing a high level of stress and mental fatigue (51-80% of work time).
