Job Overview

The Medical Assistant supports the medical and nursing staff in providing care and comfort to infant, toddler, preschool, school-age, adolescent, and young adult patients during outpatient clinic appointments byperforming routine clinical and clerical tasks.  In addition, the Medical Assistant is responsible for phlebotomy and assisting with the application and removal of casts.

 

Responsibilities

  • The Medical Assistant assists in rooming patients, taking vital signs, measurements, preparation of exam rooms, stocking supplies, assisting the physician, interacting with other departments and documentation in the electronic medical record. 
  • The Medical Assistant works with and under the direction of the RN.
  • Assists providers, nursing and other health care professionals with procedures and the intake and depart processes. Accurately documents information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Responsible for prepping clinic to be prepared for that day's clinic to include monitoring supplies and equipment and ordering supplies
  • Utilizes good clinical judgement to identify problems and interventions with patients and families and referral to RN as needed

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through AAMA, AHA or equivalent

Preferred:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Two years' experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Two years' pediatric care experience
