Job Description

  • Ensure residents privacy, respect, and dignity.

  • Administer and document all prescribed medications per the Medication Administration Records. Medication to include PRN’s and scheduled medication.

  • Assist in ordering of medication to pharmacy of resident’s choice with communication with Resident Service Director regarding orders standing, pending or requests

  • Take and record vital signs prior to administration of medications and communicate any adverse effects or symptoms.

  • Assist in daily requirements and tasks in care and treatment of residents, such as toileting, grooming, bathing, feeding, dressing, observing intake of food, care of hair and nails, moving residents from area to area, responding to calls, etc

  • Job Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Prefer some previous experience in healthcare, must have experience working in Senior Care, Assisted Living or Memory Care with a good work record, and experience administering medication in an assisted living setting. Must be capable of making decisions with the interest of the residents at heart and supportive of company policies and decisions.

  • Provide maximum resident-care services within limits defined by delegated tasks. Must show good judgement in recognizing symptoms indicative of a resident’s change in condition. Work with licensed nurses, to provide care to all individualized residents.

  • Job Knowledge: Perform the functions of medication administration. Knowledge of required Medication Administration Procedures. Good understanding of basis of universal precautions to avoid infection of residents and self or contamination of equipment and supplies.

  • Work Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in Senior Care, Assisted Living or Memory Care preferred and show passion to work with seniors.

Administrations must be administered safely and documented. • Prepare and administer topical medications to intact skin. • Administer PRN drugs, as allowed, when authorized by a license nurse. • Check physician orders against medication forms. • Maintain cleanliness and proper storage of all drugs while maintaining a clean working environment. • Keep medication cart locked while unattended. • Care for and position all resident tubing and bags as instructed. • Make rounds and report needs and conditions to the charge nurse as applicable. • Administer vital signs and document properly. • Keep medical records current by charting pertinent resident conditions timely and routine charting as scheduled, with co-signature by a licensed nurse. • Order medications from pharmacy per physician order. • Use appropriate drug reference if ever unsure or unclear as to drug being administered. • Count all drugs on Individual Control Drug Records with on-coming charge CTM at shift change. • Answer call lights, bed/chair sensors, and security care bracelet (if applicable) alarms promptly and courteously. Qualifications: • Certified as a Qualified Medication Aide in the state employed; certificate must be active, valid, and in good standing. • Certified as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state employed; certificate must be active, valid, and in good standing.
