Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to residents in a long-term care facility. The RN oversees daily clinical operations, assesses resident conditions, implements care plans, and supervises nursing staff including LPNs and CNAs. This role plays a critical part in promoting resident well-being, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting a compassionate care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Conduct comprehensive resident assessments and respond to changes in health status.
· Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
· Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions.
· Supervise and delegate duties to LPNs, CNAs, and other staff, ensuring high standards of care.
· Communicate with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding resident care.
· Document care accurately and in a timely manner in compliance with state, federal, and facility policies.
· Respond promptly to emergencies and medical crises, following proper protocols.
· Participate in quality assurance initiatives, audits, and regulatory surveys.
· Educate residents and families on care plans, health conditions, and treatments.
· Ensure adherence to infection control, safety, and HIPAA regulations.
· Serve as a role model for professionalism, accountability, and compassionate care.
Qualifications:
· Active RN license in the state of employment
· Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN)
· Current CPR/BLS certification (required)
· At least 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in long-term care or geriatric settings
· Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
· Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities
· Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR/EHR)
