Responsibilities:

  • Provide inpatient neurology care under physician supervision and collaboration.
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with neurological conditions, with an emphasis on stroke qualifications and acute neurological care.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including neurologists, hospitalists, nurses, and rehabilitation specialists, to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Participate in patient and family education to support care plans and recovery.
  • Document all patient interactions, care plans, and progress notes in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of neurology best practices and stroke guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in New York State.
  • Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with hospitalist/inpatient experience.
  • Neurology and/or hospitalist experience strongly preferred.
  • Stroke care qualification or willingness to obtain.
  • Strong clinical, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
