POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Certified Medication Aide (CMA/CMT) is under the direct supervision of the charge nurse. The charge nurse will follow up with the CMA to ensure the med pass is completed timely and accurately to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English through both speech and writing.
  • Previous patient care experience preferred.
  • Current certification for Medication Aide.

RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Reports promptly any change of patient condition or other concerns to Patient Care Supervisor.
  • Follow charting guidelines for PRN documentation.
  • Reports medication reorder.
  • Participates in all assigned meetings, trainings, education and in-service as required.
  • Inventory documentation of drugs on appropriate forms.
  • Current certification for Medication Aide.

Job Purpose: To set up and administer medications under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Nurse, and to function as a Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) we needed Essential job Duties and Responsibilities : Medication Administration Functions: Prepares, administers, and documents medications following accepted practices, and in accordance with regulations under the direction and supervision on a Licensed Nurse. Personal Care, Nursing Care, and Food Service Functions: Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, changing of bed linens, and positioning in and out of bed, chair, etc. Assist with resident recreation programs. Prepares residents for meals and snacks. Assists residents in eating where needed, and records food intake. Reads and follows daily care plans; performs assigned restorative and rehabilitative procedures, reports changes in resident condition to Nurse in charge; documents care provision on resident record/flow sheets as required and reports accidents and incidents, and provides nursing functions as directed by supervisor. Safety, Sanitation and Infection Control: Understands and follows safety, sanitation and infection control policy and procedures, to include but not limited to proper hand washing, proper wearing of masks and gloves and promptly reports any violations to supervisor. In-service and continuing education: Attend orientation and in-service as required by the state. Completes all required on-line education as deemed necessary by the state and the facility. Resident Rights and relationships: Understands, complies with, and promotes all rules regarding residents’ rights.
