RESPONSIBILITIES

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) administers nursing care for patients in their homes in accordance with the principles and practices of nursing and the patient’s needs. Other key responsibilities include patient and family education.
• The LPN follows the Plan of Care developed by the RN and communicates any necessary changes in patient condition and asks for guidance as needed.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Sitting, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking,
• Constant: reaching above, at and below shoulders; repetitive arm/hand motion.
• Frequent: standing, walking, stooping/bending, gripping of objects, and twisting body.
• Occasional: lifting and carrying usual weight up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling usual weight of 50 pounds of force.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Subjected to adverse environmental conditions like blood borne pathogens.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Current Hawaii State License as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Valid U.S. driver's license, vehicle and vehicle insurance as required by Hawaii State law.
• Driver's abstract reflecting evidence of good driving record.
• Current BLS certification.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• Knowledge of occupational therapy theory and practice to treat patients.
• Knowledge and use of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
• Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, and the public.
