Job Summary and Qualifications

As a highly-skilled and compassionate RN in the Mother Baby Unit you will provide direct patient care in the Postpartum/Couplet setting. You will work to provide patients with an individualized care plan through assessment and planning. Our team supports each other like family and we are looking for someone who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do.

In this role:

You will provide assessment and planning for individualized patient care.
You willrespond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
You will communicate effectively with physicians regarding patient’s clinical condition including:fetal monitoring and results of diagnostic studies.
You will perform nursing duties as needed in the continuum of care for all areas of Maternal Child health.
You will demonstratean ability to assist physicians with procedures in Postpartum care and the Newborn Nursery.
You will participate in process improvement efforts and activities for the department.
You will act in a composed and professional manner, especially under pressure.

Qualifications:

Current State of Utah or Compact Registered Nurse License.
American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification within 7 days of hire.
S.T.A.B.L.E. certification – must obtain within 90 days of hire and then maintain certification.
Current Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and Fetal Monitoring certification preferred.
Must obtain NRP certification within 90 days from date of hire and then maintain certification.
One or more years of recent Postpartum/Newborn Nursery experience required for part time or PRN positions

In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Assesses the patient and identifies patient care needs Uses patient assessment information to organize appropriate patient care Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates patient care Facilitates a safe environment Maintains required competencies Functions as charge nurse as assigned Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care Administers medication as ordered by physician Recognizes life threatening situations and responds appropriately Establishes collaborative interdisciplinary relationships with other Health System staff and medical staff Monitors the quality of care based on pre-established outcome-oriented indicators Actively participates in cost containment and assists in accurate charging for patient services Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patients Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of medical regimen Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job: Education and Formal Training : Associates Degree in Nursing required Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure Work Experience : At least 1 year of RN experience Experience in ED, ICU, Medical Surgical welcome Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required : Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills Verbal and written skills required Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skills Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically served Physical Requirements : Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs Visual acuity for observation of patients Much standing, walking, bending, and lifting May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material #CFVH-2025 Required Licenses and Certifications RN - Board Of Nursing Cape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
