Responsibilities

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic occupational medicine team. This individual will be responsible for providing direct care to employees and other personnel who become ill and/or are injured on company property as well as pre-employment screening. They will perform nursing assessments and assist provider with employment and surveillance examinations.

Clinical Excellence/Patient Care

  • Obtain information to assist provider and referral specialist with patient referrals; complete appropriate forms or requisitions required for referrals or lab testing.
  • Function as a clinician, educator, and resource for patients within their specialty of care and assist providers with office procedures.
  • Draw and collect blood and other samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Conduct pulmonary function testing, drug testing, vision testing, hearing testing, immunization delivery and spirometry testing.
  • Properly use office and medical equipment such as: computer, spirometer, audiometer, fax machine, multi-stage copiers and telephones.
  • Practice reflects knowledge of CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, DOT and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding occupational medicine and healthcare.
  • Telephone triage by providing and documenting advice for home care of illness/condition; conducting follow-up phone calls regarding patient’s health and progress as necessary.

Development and Patient Education

  • Be aware of what is happening in clinic/department and the organization by attending clinic/department meetings, reading emails and regularly checking information on the organization’s intranet site.
  • Demonstrate initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations.
  • Based on care setting, may develop, present, train, and facilitate educational classes for client companies.

Qualifications

  • Licensure
    • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
    • Certification in Hearing conservation (CAOHC) and NIOSH approved spirometry training.
    • If performing client-based services, Chauffer’s license required, which can be obtained within 6 months of hire, and must meet eligibility requirements of fleet policy.
    • Experience: All levels of RN experience will be considered. Prior experience in occupational health is a plus, but not required.
    • Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
