Responsibilities

  • Manage overall nurse staffing, training, and development within the Nursing Services Department

  • Oversee quality of nursing care, including assessment, planning, documentation, and service delivery

  • Coordinate medical and pharmaceutical services in collaboration with the Medical Director, Pharmacy Consultant, and major vendor pharmacy

  • Ensure proper placement of residents in collaboration with facility staff and attending physicians

  • Coordinate interdisciplinary healthcare services provided by facility staff, external providers, and consultants

  • Participate in and promote Quality Management initiatives to improve nursing services

  • Direct orientation and on-the-job training for Assistant Director Nursing Services, Head Nurse, Evening/Night Supervisors, Medical Records Assistant, and Clinical Instructor

  • Hire, discipline, and terminate department staff as necessary; conduct exit interviews for staff employed six months or more

  • Develop and oversee orientation and ongoing in-service training programs for department staff

  • Serve as Program Coordinator for the Nursing Assistant 100-Hour Training Program, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations

  • Review and process personnel information including evaluations, time sheets, leave requests, and disciplinary actions

  • Assist with discipline as requested by supervisory staff

Qualifications

Required:

  • Registered Professional Nurse (RN) with current state license

  • At least 2 years of supervisory nursing experience

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

  • Strong problem-solving skills and diplomatic conflict resolution

  • Demonstrated managerial leadership skills: desire for improvement, building trust, and fostering staff pride

  • Regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or administration

  • Geriatric nursing training

  • Additional training and experience aligned with facility size and responsibilities

  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
