A full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is needed to provide dedicated 1:1 nursing support for a kindergarten student with severe needs in a K-12 school setting located in Springfield, MA. This contract position starts as soon as possible and extends through June 18, 2026, following the 2025/2026 school year schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide skilled nursing care to a student with complex medical needs, including spinal bifida, wheelchair use, neurogenic bladder requiring catheterization, and limited ambulation with a walker.
- Collaborate closely with classroom staff and paraprofessionals supporting a student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
- Administer medical treatments and monitor the student's health status throughout the school day.
- Ensure safety and well-being during school hours, with services delivered onsite (no transportation duties required).
- Maintain proper documentation in compliance with school and healthcare regulations.
Qualifications:
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required; Registered Nurses (RN) may also be considered.
- Experience working with pediatric school populations, especially students with severe physical and neurological conditions, preferred.
- Ability to manage catheterization and other specialized nursing procedures independently.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with educational staff and support teams.
- Commitment to supporting student health and learning in a dynamic school environment.
Schedule:
- Full-time position, 32.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Daily hours approximately 6.5 hours per day aligned with the school calendar.
