Job Description:

The Role: Medical Surgical/Post-Operative Charge Nurse (RN) on Terrace West

  • Provides nursing leadership for an assigned unit/area.

The Opportunity:

MaineGeneral Health is offering an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team on Terrace West as Charge Nurse on the night shift.
Terrace West is a 14 bed med/surg unit with a focus on cardiac and medical patients. Nurses on this unit love the team approach and supportive decision making that foster growth and professional development.

This position is 36 hours per week on the night shift (7p-7a). You will work three 12-hour shifts each week. Every 3rd weekend rotation.

The Work:

  • Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assigned shift. Determines staffing level and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, and patient acuity.
  • Provides direct patient care as needed. Floats between staff to assist with problem solving. May take patient assignments to meet staffing needs.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and identifies any issues that affect desired patient outcomes. Responds to complaints about patient care and related services, and manages through established channels.
  • Performs responsibilities of underlying job, including coordinating transfers and performing admissions or discharges. Ensures staff has necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe and effective patient care.

You Have:
• Maine state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or ability to obtain in a timely fashion required
• At least 1 year of RN experience required
